Happy Tails 4-H Dog Club is a FUN CLUB for kids and their dogs. Our club has a mixture of pure-breds and mixed breeds, with kids of all ages interacting and having fun in weekly classes and monthly meetings.
We also teach the kids how to be responsible and give back to their community. Community Service projects include sponsoring the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter, and the Williamson County Humane Shelter with dog food, blankets, and toy drives. We also participate in the Mighty Texas Dog Walk, and Service Dog testing on a regular basis. Happy Tails is also an official sponsor of the Georgetown Dog Park Association. There are many other events and activities planned throughout the year for the kids to participate in.
HAPPY TAILS - WHAT WE DO...
Agility - Agility training helps club members improve their relationship with their dogs off-leash. It helps the dogs learn important social skills and EVERYONE has fun, and gets some exercise. The club utilizes the training facilities of Triple Crown Dog Academy for both Agility and Obedience training.
Obedience - The ultimate goal of dog training is to build a strong, healthy bond between the dog and its family. It's important that our dogs "have manners". The club emphasizes fun, positive training techniques. Obedience training starts with the basics: heel, down, sit and stay. It's a great reward to teach your dog to obey - both for the club member and for the dogs!
Dog Care Project - In 4-H, you don't need to own a pure breed canine to learn about good grooming, dog health issues, and how to show your dog to the best of it's potential (handling). In the club, learning about dog groups and your dog's breed standard is important, as well. The more you understand your dog, the better able you are to take care of him/her.
Happy Tails 4-H Spring Dog Show - This county show is hosted by the Happy Tails 4-H Dog Club every spring, and is an open invitational to all of the Texas 4-H Dog Clubs. To view last year's information, go to the SPRING DOG SHOW page. To view pictures of previous shows, go to the PICTURES page. |
